Bulova Launch Manchester United Club Watch
Manchester United's Official Timekeeping Partner, Bulova has today unveiled its limited-edition Manchester United Club Watch.
The beautifully-crafted timepiece pays homage to the club's history by including nine separate commemorative design features.
The watch, powered by Bulova's proprietary UHF high-performance quartz movement, features markers in United's original colours on the 18 and 78 minute, symbolising the year 1878, when the team was first formed as Newton Heath. The Club's links to the Lancashire and Yorkshire railways at that time are also illustrated with a train track running between the 12 hour and 18 minute markers.
Bold red marks the timepiece's seventh hour, a nod to the team's iconic number seven shirt, worn by club greats such as George Best, Bryan Robson and David Beckham. On a more sombre note, the watch's 23-minute marker has been blacked out in remembrance of the 23 who tragically lost their lives in the 1958 Munich air disaster - the darkest hour in the Club's history.
The United Trinity, Best, Denis Law and Sir Bobby Charlton, are honoured in red at numbers seven, nine and 10-minute markers, representing the shirt numbers they are most famous for wearing. A red 20-minute marker highlights the Club's league title haul—the highest in the English game - and other details include the iconic crest on both the crown and face.
Bulova's attention to detail and quality also extends to the watch strap, which is made from vintage-inspired leather, to acknowledge the footballs used in the early years of the game.
Manchester United's Group Managing Director Richard Arnold comments: "Bulova has been creating quality timepieces since 1875, just three years before the Club was formed. They understand how the Club's history makes us who we are and we are delighted Bulova have commemorated some of United's most important moments within this specially-designed watch."
Bulova President Gregory Thumm comments: "This historic launch of the Manchester United Club Watch was shaped by a singular design vision, and with utmost attention to quality and craftsmanship."
The Bulova Manchester United Club Watch is available from today, kicking off with an exclusive pre-sale event through the team’s online store, United Direct (store.manutd.com), with further roll-outs to the Megastore at Old Trafford in October, and global markets in November. The watch will retail at £350.
All fans who pre-order the watch will be automatically entered into a draw to win one of 10 leather heritage footballs signed by United legends and current players and one of 20 framed and signed limited-edition prints from the Manchester United Club Watch photoshoot.
