Jamie Redknapp: David de Gea Set For Tough Time At Man. United
Jamie Redknapp says it will be hard for David de Gea to return to play for Manchester United after his Real Madrid move fell through.
De Gea's was set to move to to the Spanish capital on Monday, with goalkeeper Keylor Navas heading the other way, but is now set to stay at United for the rest of the season after the deal collapsed.
Jamie Redknapp told Sky Sports News HQ: "In one respect it's good news for Manchester United that he'll be playing until the end of the season, but then he'll be at the end of his contract, when you could have got good money for him.
"You wonder what his frame of mind is going to be like once he comes back into the team.
"He strikes me as a really good lad, but you can see he's had his eyes set on going to Real Madrid for so long now that it's going to be very tough for him. But he's got to get him back playing as soon as possible."
While fellow Sky Sports pundit Thierry Henry added: "Right now I wouldn't like to be him, because it's a difficult situation for him to deal with.
"I just wonder why all these clubs always leave it until the last seconds? We knew he wanted to go.
"It's not fair on the boy, it's not fair on the team, it's not fair on the other goalkeeper from Real Madrid (Navas). But we're talking about Manchester United, and I was actually shocked yesterday when I heard the news that it wasn't happening."
