Memphis Vows To Celebrate
Manchester United forward Memphis Depay is relishing the chance to take on his former club PSV Eindhoven on Tuesday, and has vowed to celebrate should he get on the scoresheet.
Despite evidently still bearing an affinity for his old club, there is no doubting where the youngster's loyalties will lie in the European encounter, with the Reds' summer signing declaring that he plans to make the most of any goalscoring opportunities that come his way.
“A lot of people have asked me if I will celebrate if I score," Memphis told journalists in the pre-match press conference. "Of course I have respect for PSV, but I will celebrate. Football is a game and scoring is special."
United's new no.7 spent a decade plying his trade for the Dutch champions, so inevitably feels a great deal of gratitude towards them for his footballing education. With that in mind, he is expecting an emotional reunion as the Reds look to kickstart the Champions League group stage with a win
“It’s a special feeling for me to see my old team-mates again – I learned so much at PSV,” Memphis said. “When I came on the pitch at PSV, when I made my debut, I was very young. I will think about that when I walk on the pitch to train tonight.”
