Schneiderlin Targets Cup Glory
Morgan Schneiderlin is targeting multiple trophies as a Manchester United player – starting with the Capital One Cup this season.
With the final being played on 28 February next year, the competition offers the summer signing his first chance of winning a medal with the Reds. However, the Frenchman acknowledges that knock-out ties like tonight's home third-round meeting with Ipswich Town can be difficult to win, even when the visitors are from a lower division.
“They’re very hard games,” Schneiderlin told MUTV. “Ipswich will come to Old Trafford knowing it’s massive for them. They will be buzzing and giving their best. It’s going to be a massive challenge and we need to be on our toes. Last year I watched the match between MK Dons and Manchester United and nobody wants to go through that again.”
Schneiderlin is fully aware of the strains that competing for all the cups could have on United’s fixture list but he is adamant that a large and motivated group can cope with the demands in search of silverware.
The midfielder declared: “All the players are here to win trophies and we’re going to take every competition, including the Capital One Cup, very seriously. We want to play in every cup even if we play every three days. We are strong and have a big squad, so every player is keen to play every three days and win as many trophies as we can.”
