PSv Fans Wish Shaw Speedy Recovery

PSV Eindhoven's official fan club have brought two flags to Old Trafford that wish Luke Shaw a speedy recovery from the leg break he suffered against the Dutch champions in September.

The pacey left-back was taken off on a stretcher following a collision with Hector Moreno during the first half of United’s eventual 2-1 defeat at the Philips Stadion and will be sidelined until 2016.

Wednesday’s return fixture with PSV in the Champions League conjures memories of the incident and, in a show of goodwill, the travelling fans from the Netherlands will display their message of support for Shaw inside the stadium, before reportedly attempting to deliver the second flag to the player himself.

Ahead of kick-off at Old Trafford, Shaw used his personal Instagram account to react to the banner. "Thank you to the PSV fans for your nice gesture," he posted. "Looking forward to the game tonight."

Louis van Gaal admitted during his pre-match press conference that Shaw is making steady progress in his rehabilitation and will undergo a scan on the injury this Friday. The England international may not be in the stadium for the match, however, as he has been given four days off by the manager.

PSV boss Phillip Cocu has also been speaking about the incident and the former Barcelona man has explained why he hopes United fans will not boo Moreno for his part in the incident. “I hope not,” Cocu told reporters. “It was a very bad injury. Hopefully Luke Shaw will get back soon.

“He is a fantastic player. The most important thing will be that he is back on his feet shortly, joining the team and playing for Manchester United, but we don't know what will happen in the game.”
