Zaha: Moyes Banned My Showboats

Wilfried Zaha was told to stop showboating by former Manchester United boss David Moyes.

Zaha joined United from Crystal Palace in January 2013, with the club's then manager Sir Alex Ferguson spending an initial £10m to bring the winger to Old Trafford.

He remained at Selhurst Park on loan for the rest of the season meaning it was Moyes who handed the player his competitive debut for United the following season after replacing Ferguson.

However, with United struggling in the Premier League, the Scot decided to loan the England international to Cardiff City in January 2014 after he had made just two league appearances for the Red Devils.

And Zaha, 23, says Moyes never fully trusted him during their time working together in the north-west, with the player having to "adjust" his game as a result.

"Under David Moyes I had to adjust my game," Zaha told Soccer AM.

"Certain managers want a trustworthy player, someone that will always keep the ball.

"But he was the only one who told me to stop some of the tricks and keep the ball in certain areas. So I tried to adjust my game then."

Moyes was sacked by United in April 2014, while Zaha re-joined Palace on a permanent basis in February 2015.
