Fellaini: We Could Be Better

Marouane Fellaini admits Manchester United could be more exciting to watch, but says the players do understand Louis van Gaal's philosophy.

United's playing style has come in for criticism after a run of seven draws in 11 matches, including five goalless encounters.

They were also knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday evening after a 3-2 defeat to Wolfsburg.

That prompted questions over whether United should be performing better considering the money that has been spent by Van Gaal.

Asked if they could be more exciting to watch, Fellaini told Soccer Saturday: "Yes, of course. We are a big club, we want to win trophies and the fans want to see players score goals.

"The expectation is high, we are a big team and supporters want to see goals and good games.

"I think everyone is disappointed (with the Champions League exit), but that's football, now you have to forget about that and continue to improve and try to win games."

While United's form has come under scrutiny, they still sit fourth in the Premier League ahead of their Saturday Night Football trip to Bournemouth.

They have only lost twice in the league this season and Fellaini says the players know what Van Gaal is trying to do.

"Now we know him for a year and a half, we know how he functions and how he wants the team to play, so we have to do it in the games," said the Belgian. "Everyone wants to play in the Champions League, but now we are out so now we have to focus on the league, the Europa League and FA Cup.

"We have those three competitions so we will see how we do at the end of the season."

Bournemouth will be looking to cause a second successive Saturday Night Football upset after beating Chelsea last weekend.

"We have to be ready," said Fellaini. "I know in the Premier League that everybody can beat everybody. I played with (Bournemouth defender Sylvain) Distin for four years so he has talked to me about the club and the players."
