How Injury-hit Are Man. United?

Manchester United have had more injuries than Arsenal since the start of last season.

The Gunners currently have 10 players sidelined, with key men including Alexis Sanchez, Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin in the treatment room.

Arsene Wenger has also been without Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott and Danny Welbeck for long periods over the past season and a half.

However, according to physioroom.com, Manchester United have in fact seen more players injured - and miss more days - since the 2014/15 season kicked off.

In that time, Louis van Gaal has had 32 players pick up injuries. Luke Shaw (252 days), who is currently out with a broken leg, and Phil Jones (204) have been out for the most time. In total, United's players have missed a combined 2,568 days.

Arsenal's players have missed a combined 2,522 days in the same period.

Welbeck (279 days) and Wilshere (255) have spent the most time out of action for the Londoners. Welbeck was also injured for 22 days while still with Manchester United at the start of the 2014/15 season, before his move to Arsenal.

Daniel Sturridge (365 days out) makes up a substantial part of Liverpool's 2,325 days out since the start of last season, while Manchester City (1,689), Tottenham (1,449) and Chelsea (1,130) have been more fortunate.

The form of current Premier League high-flyers Leicester City could be put down to the fact their players have only missed 1,026 days over the same period - and that includes the combined 361 days Matty James and Dean Hammond have been injured.

Most-injured players

However, when it comes to the most-injured players of the current top five teams in the Premier League, Arsenal players feature heavily.

Seven of the top 20 are Arsenal players: Danny Welbeck, Jack Wilshere, Tomas Rosicky, Mikel Arteta, Mathieu Debuchy, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and former Gunner Abou Diaby.

Manchester United players are also prominent. Luke Shaw, Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Jonny Evans - who has since left for West Brom - and Marcos Rojo all feature in the top 20.

Manchester City have three players in the list of the top 20 most-injured among the league's current top five clubs, while Leicester and Tottenham have two each.
