Darmian Recovering Well From Head Injury

Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian has assured the club's supporters he is recovering well following a head injury.

The 26-year-old had to be replaced during the second half of the 1-0 defeat to Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Following the game United confirmed Darmian had to be taken to hospital after clashing heads with Saints striker Shane Long.

But Darmian has informed his followers on social media that he expected to be back in action in the near future.

"Thank you all for the support. I'm fine. See you soon," he wrote.

The news will be welcomed by United boss Louis van Gaal, who is already missing Luke Shaw, Ashley Young, Antonio Valencia, Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo through injury.

After the match, Van Gaal said: "He's in hospital. He was spitting blood so we have to wait and see."

The former Torino player waved to fans as he made his way to the United dressing room and was replaced by Paddy McNair for the final 30 minutes against Saints.
