Martial Hailed As "Unplayable"

Wayne Rooney, Daley Blind and Juan Mata may have been the men on the scoresheet in the FA Cup win at Derby County on Friday night, but there's no doubt the architect of the 3-1 triumph was Man of the Match Anthony Martial.

Team-mate Michael Carrick, who made a welcome return from injury in the second half at the iPro Stadium, described Martial as "unplayable" when he's in the mood, while fellow midfielder Marouane Fellaini has also waxed lyrical about the young French striker, who has been one of the Reds' star performers this term.

After bursting onto the scene with a memorable debut goal against Liverpool in September, the 20-year-old has chipped in with seven further strikes and continued to terrify defenders, none more so than against the Rams.

"He has shown his quality from day one since his debut," declared Carrick. "We realise how good he is but we can’t expect everything all the time. However, when he’s playing like that [as he did against Derby], he’s pretty much unplayable so it’s nice to have him.”

Fellaini concurred, adding: "Anthony has a lot of quality. He is quick, a good dribbler and always dangerous. He's settled in well, enjoys the training and loves the Premier League and playing games. This is good for him but also the club.

"He is young and has to keep going and learning every day. And he must keep training hard as next season will be more difficult because the Premier League will know him. But I think he has the quality to be a success."

Martial was deservedly named United's Man of the Match in the FA Cup fourth-round win and he will be out to upset Stoke City in Tuesday's Premier League fixture.
