De Gea: Let's Keep This Going
David De Gea has called for Manchester United to maintain the current level of performance after a second three-goal haul in five days earned a 3-0 win over Stoke City on Tuesday.
The Spanish goalkeeper was rarely forced into action during a game in which Louis van Gaal's men never relinquished control, contributing to the Reds' 12th clean sheet of the season. Nine of those have come with the 25-year-old between the posts, with Sergio Romero keeping three of his own.
Goals from Jesse Lingard, Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney sealed the win against the Potters, and De Gea has urged his team-mates to continue the recent run of good form.
“I’m really happy with the result and the three points,” David told MUTV. “We put in a really good performance. Stoke didn’t create many chances and we kept a clean sheet.
“They are a great team and the Premier League is always a difficult league in which to keep a clean sheet, but that was the key. Now we need to keep this level up.
“We tried to score as soon as possible, and we did that. We got the early goal and that made it easier for us. It was probably one of our best games this season, but we need to keep this level like I said before, because we have really good players in attack – quick, powerful, and they score a lot of goals.
"We always have the confidence," he added. "But in the last couple of games we have scored three goals and I think it’s been really important to us, and given confidence to us to keep this run going.”
United have a busy month ahead with challenges in three competitions and next up is Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. “The victory [over Stoke] is a perfect start, we wanted these three points. We need to keep fighting and playing like this, and for sure we will win more games.”
