Herrera Relives Goal Celebrations

Ander Herrera admits he is a little embarrassed to see himself celebrating Manchester United goals so wildly but feels it is just a case of his passion for the game coming to the fore in high-pressure situations.

The Spaniard not only enjoys sharing the special moments with the fans when on the pitch but has also been caught on camera enthusiastically reacting to Troy Deeney's own-goal winner at Watford and Wayne Rooney's crucial strike at Liverpool while on the bench.

After viewing our MUTV footage of the incidents, which created a buzz on social media in the aftermath of the games, Herrera talked us through his celebrations and reiterated a desire to follow Phil Jones, Michael Carrick and Marcos Rojo in attending an away game with the supporters.

"Sometimes, when I see myself again, I feel a little bit embarrassed because I cannot control my emotions," he told ManUtd.com. "Like when we won in the last minute against Watford and also just before 80 minutes when we scored against Liverpool, which is a big game for us and our fans.

"I always try to look forward and look to the future and I think this goal can give us a lot of confidence, that's why I reacted like that! [Laughs]. I cannot stop that or change that, it's the way I feel football and feel about Manchester United.

"We have to go everywhere to win and to make our fans proud. That's why I react like this. I feel the passion for this game and I always say the same, when you play for such a big club, you want to be there as long as possible. When you score and the team is winning, that means everything is alright and things are going good and I want to be part of that. There is nothing better than that moment or that feeling."

Of course, Rooney's goal at Anfield came from a rebound after Marouane Fellaini's header came back off the bar and Ander was asked if, sometimes, those sort of moments can be the best, when the anticipation is even higher.

"That's true," he said. "I was celebrating the header of Fellaini and you are a little disappointed because the ball hit the bar but then Wazza was there to score a fantastic goal in front of our fans. That goal was where our fans were so I think there is nothing better than that moment, that feeling.

"[Our players were in the away end and] I want to do it also but that would mean I am injured so hopefully I can play as many games as possible. Of course, it was very funny, to see Phil Jones on TV. So, so funny! We were joking in the dressing room about it. But it meant we were all involved - we all want the best for the team when you play and when you don’t play, we are a good group. We want to make our fans proud and make this club the best again so I was very happy to see Michael, Jonah and Marcos with our fans celebrating that goal. Fantastic."

When asked whether his reaction to Spain winning the World Cup in 2010 with Andres Iniesta's goal was a wild one, he replied: "Of course. I was with my friends and we were together watching that game. There is no video about that but, if the video was there, it would be very, very crazy!"
