United Stars Target Victory Over Watford

Manchester United produced a stirring display against Arsenal at a vibrant Old Trafford on Sunday to make it three wins from three games in three competitions. Attention now turns to Wednesday night's match against Watford and the Reds are determined to kick on.

Ander Herrera, Michael Carrick and the injured Chris Smalling are all confident a top-four finish remains a possibility with 11 Barclays Premier League matches left to play this season. While speaking to ManUtd.com ahead of facing the Hornets, the trio appeared ready for action...

HERRERA RECALLS NOVEMBER’S 2-1 WIN AT WATFORD
“We played quite well there. They drew level when we were playing our best moment of the game. I remember one chance of Jesse [Lingard] against the goalkeeper but they got a penalty after we controlled the game. We reacted very well and won that game. I think we were first in the table after that match, which is why we were so happy. So now we have still a lot to win, we’re in three competitions and still the team is performing quite well. It’s positive to try to think that we can still have a good season and try to keep playing as we did in the last games.”

CARRICK PREVIEWS FOURTH GAME IN NINE DAYS
“It’s not ideal but that’s the business end. We want to be challenging for trophies and finishing higher up in the league. The games are coming thick and fast now. We want the injured players to get fit again so we can have that strength in depth in the squad again. I am sure over the next few games that will happen but we are ready for Wednesday.”

SMALLING RATES DEENEY AND IGHALO
“They were a real handful last time. Not a lot of teams play with two up front and they’re two guys who can run in behind the defence, hold the ball up, play it out and they can obviously both finish as well. They were a handful when we played against them and I’ve seen them play in the same way many times this season. Watford deserve full credit for going for it this season, attacking teams and not sitting behind the ball. They deserve to be where they are in the league table.”

HERRERA PRAISES QUIQUE SANCHEZ FLORES
“He was a great player and now he’s doing very well in Watford. It’s not so easy when you’re promoted and they are already safe. They are fighting even for a European place so he is doing very well. He also did very well in Atletico Madrid and Getafe so I have to congratulate him. Hopefully, we can beat them though.”
