Rashford Grateful For Stars' Help

Marcus Rashford says in Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he has two of the best strikers around to learn from as he prepares for his second season as a senior Manchester United player.

The teenager famously burst onto the scene last term and has not looked back since two debut goals, a further brace on his Premier League bow, an FA Cup winners’ medal and a place in England’s Euro 2016 squad.

Rashford is champing at the bit for the new campaign and looking to build on a memorable first few months for the Reds. His manager Jose Mourinho has described Ibrahimovic’s arrival as being “a gift” for a player such as Rashford in terms of the influence the Sweden striker can have on the youngsters, and the 18-year-old agrees.

“It’s amazing to have both of them to learn from. You’ve also got someone like Michael [Carrick] too. You pick up bits from each of their games and put them into your own," he explained in an interview with MUTV.

“They’ve won so many trophies. I think Zlatan’s won 30 trophies and Wayne and Michael are two of the most decorated players in football so there is a lot to learn from them. And not only for me, but the other young players who are coming through.

“Everything that we’re going through and will go through in the next few years, they’ve been there and done it and can tell us all about it. So it’s a real benefit for us to have them.”

Ibrahimovic is one of four new arrivals at the club this summer with the most high-profile signing being a fellow Academy graduate of Rashford’s, Paul Pogba. And the youngster is delighted to have him back.

“He’s a midfielder that can do everything," he insisted. "He can go forward, he can sit, he can score goals and create goals and he can defend – he’s an all-round player that would benefit any team. We’re just lucky to have him.

“Since all the new players have come in, the team spirit has just gone up and up and up,” he added. “Everyone is ready for the new season. We’ve all got the same mentality, the same mindset, the same goals – we all want to win. It’s exciting for everyone.”
