Jose's Press Conference
Jose Mourinho gave an honest assessment of Manchester United’s 2-1 Europa League defeat to Fenerbahce in his post-match press conference, admitting the Turkish side deserved their victory.
The manager was frustrated by the concession of an early goal, scored in spectacular fashion by Moussa Sow, and admitted his team are currently "fragile" when falling behind in a game.
But Mourinho is still confident that the Reds, who are third in Group A and a point behind leaders Fenerbahce and Feyenoord with two games to play, will qualify for the knockout stages.
"What disappointed me is that I have quite a big experience of playing against Turkish teams,” the United boss told reporters. "My experience is you play against them at home and it’s easy, but when you come to Turkey it’s a completely different story.
"I said [to the players to] wait for that. Don’t focus on the easy game at Old Trafford, but be ready for a completely different game. But Fenerbahce started at 100 miles per hour and we started really slowly.
"We are in this moment fragile when we go behind, I know we are. But we are not scoring enough goals. When you are in a moment like this you have to be strong mentally and start the game in a different way than we did.
"Football is from the first second. Fenerbahce played an emotional game, football is an emotional game, and they deserved to win."
