Valencia Dedicates Award To United Medics

Antonio Valencia has dedicated his Premier League Man of the Match award to Manchester United’s medical team after his impressive return from injury in the 1-1 draw with Arsenal.

The Ecuadorian fractured his arm on 26 October, during the 1-0 EFL Cup victory over Manchester City at Old Trafford, and that forced him to undergo an operation at a busy time in the season.

Although he was expected to be unavailable for some time, Valencia made something of a surprise comeback against the Gunners on Saturday and produced an excellent performance at right-back.

The ex-Wigan Athletic man was given the official Man of the Match award for his contribution and, using his personal Instagram account, he thanked the club’s medics for their role in his recovery.

“We regret not having obtained the three points and the next match will be better,” Valencia posted, beneath a photo with club staff. “I also want to dedicate this award to all of the Manchester United medical corps. Thank you for having patience with my recovery.”
