Rooney 'Committed' To Manchester United After Breaking Goal Record

Manchester United's all-time leading goalscorer Wayne Rooney says that he remains committed to the club.

The 31-year-old forward has been linked with a big-money move to the Chinese Super League but implied that he would not be going anywhere while he remains contracted to United.

Rooney became United's all-time leading scorer on Saturday in dramatic style, scoring a late equaliser at Stoke to reach 250 goals and pass the legendary Sir Bobby Charlton.

And Rooney capped the weekend by picking up the Football Writers' Association's Tribute Award on Sunday night for his services to English football.

Speaking to Sky Sports News HQ, Rooney said he is currently very happy with life at Old Trafford.

"I'm committed," said Rooney. "I have been at the club for a long time.

"Football is a strange game. Anything can happen and things change very quickly but I am happy at Manchester United.

"Of course, as I have said before, I want to play more games.

"I am in a happy place, a good moment personally, so I think I have a year, with an option year to go. We will see what happens and what happens after that."

Rooney reiterated how proud he is to have broken the United scoring record and says he has been inundated with messages since smashing a free-kick into the Stoke net.

"It is obviously a great achievement," he said. "And it is a moment in my career which I am extremely proud of.

"It is something which has built up over the years and it has happened, I am delighted, and it is something that will stick with me forever.

"I am really pleased, proud and I would like to thank everyone for their messages over the last 24 hours, they have been great and I appreciate it."
