Valencia Reveals Future Ambitions

Antonio Valencia says he "didn't have to think twice" about signing a new contract with Manchester United and has now set himself a host of targets to achieve with the team.

The club confirmed this week that a clause has been triggered on Valencia's current deal, meaning his stay has been extended until at least June 2018. The Ecuadorian sat down with MUTV to discuss his good news and revealed the aims he has set himself for the future.

"I’m really happy," Antonio declared. "I think it’s the third time that I have renewed my contract here at the club. On each occasion, everything has run smoothly and there have never been any problems.

"It’s always a pleasure to renew because I love this club and my family are happy here. So when I was asked to sign a one-year extension, I didn’t have to think twice.

"There are still a lot of things to achieve," he continued. "I’m missing a Champions League, I’d like a few more Premier League titles and some more silverware, too. I’d love to keep on winning things at Manchester United and I’ll work as hard as I can to make this happen because I’m very happy here."

Valencia has been one of United's star performers this term and the 31-year-old feels the Reds are progressing nicely under Jose Mourinho.

"We are on a good run at present. Confidence is high in the group and we are growing as a team," he said. "I think we were a little unlucky against Liverpool as the game was there for the taking, but that’s football for you. I think we are on the right track at the moment."
