Ibra's View On Goalless Game

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was frustrated by Manchester United's goalless draw with Hull City, but the striker has promised the Reds are working hard to improve on such results this season.

Visiting goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic produced an admirable display at Old Trafford and he particularly impressed when denying Juan Mata's close-range effort, plus two Paul Pogba strikes and a late Marcos Rojo header that was destined for the top corner before it was diverted by an excellent save.

Wednesday's result was also disappointing because the Premier League's top four teams had all dropped points on Tuesday night, meaning United unfortunately missed a chance to take advantage.

"It is very disappointing," Ibra told MUTV. "It would have been nice to win today because the other teams lost some points and we would have come closer to, let's say, the top four. Even though the top four is not my aim. My aim is win the whole Premier League, but if you don't win then you don't come closer."

Expanding on his assessment of the match, Zlatan said: "If you don’t score then you don’t win. I think we had some chances to score, but we didn't score, so we kept creating and creating. We missed that last third of our field and we were not doing it like we know how to do and are able to do.

"I haven't been here before so I can only talk about the seven months I have been here. In some games we didn't have luck, in some games we struggled, in some games we didn't do good enough and that is part of football. We are not perfect, but we are trying, we are working hard and we want to win."

United had two penalty appeals turned down after Ibrahimovic and Marcus Rashford were brought down in the box, which begs the question as to whether the Reds are getting the rub of the green at the moment.

"Today was not about luck," Ibra conceded. "If you don’t play good and you get a half chance and score maybe it is more about luck. But today we had great chances where we could have scored and we didn't finish good enough, and that happens."

Looking forward to Sunday's match at Leicester City, Ibrahimovic stressed the need for United to stay focused and keep working towards the target of climbing the Premier League table.

"We have many more games left to go and we will do our best, obviously, to try to get in the position where the future looks good for the club and that is by playing in the Champions League."
