Rooney Unlikely To Exit Man. United

Wayne Rooney's proposed move to China before the end of February is unlikely to take place, according to the Premier League Daily panel.

Rooney's future at Manchester United has become uncertain, having started just three games in the past two months under Jose Mourinho.

A handful of clubs in China are pursuing the 31-year-old, and his agent, Paul Stretford is currently in talks with interested parties, who are apparently offering over £700,000 per-week in wages.

Sky Sports understands it is unlikely the England captain, who has 18 months remaining on his current contract at Old Trafford, will move before Tuesday's Chinese transfer deadline.

And neither the former Bolton and Southampton striker, Davies nor the ex-Leicester boss Peter Taylor expect Rooney to make a switch.

"It's an interesting one because a couple of people I know know him and said, he doesn't quite fancy the move," Davies said to Sky Sports News HQ.

"The only reason he will go there is for the finances, but he's already a very wealthy man. So, the lifestyle, will he take the family? I don't think it is something the family will want to do.

"But when you are brandishing those kinds of figures that we are hearing, around £1m per-week or whatever it is, you have to listen to it. And the agent is over there listening to the offers and it's something that you have to do.

"I'd be surprised if he does go. I know he's not playing as much as he would like for Manchester United and that's difficult for him as captain, but I would be surprised if he does move there."

Taylor, who had had spells coaching in Bahrain and India, has generally been impressed by the rise of the game in Asia.

But he reckons the timing is not right for Rooney to be lured to China, as there is little attraction there at the moment aside from the finance on offer.

Taylor told Sky Sports News HQ: "They are all trying very hard, they are all trying to do it right and that's the only thing I would say about Chinese football, is that I'm not so sure there is a proper structure there at the minute.

"I think there are a lot of people willing to give a lot of money to get the big names out there, but I think once you get out there the league has got to be done right, the fixtures have got to be right, the clubs have got to be right, and I think it's very, very early stages.

"I think then that people like Wayne Rooney will be too professional for that. I think they would struggle."
