Reds Set For Europa League Semi-final Draw

The draw for the Europa League semi-finals will take place in Nyon, Switzerland on Friday at 12:00 BST, with Manchester United among the remaining four clubs in the competition.

The last-four ties will be played on Thursday 4 and 11 May, and the sides drawn first out of the pot will play the first leg at home. The Reds will travel to Arsenal in the Premier League between the two ties.

The three sides who United could face in the semi-finals are as follows:

AFC AJAX
Like United, the Dutch giants needed extra time to secure their qualification on Thursday night when a 3-2 defeat at FC Schalke was enough to claim a dramatic 4-3 aggregate win. They'd previously beaten Legia Warsaw and FC Copenhagen in the knockout rounds, after finishing top of their group.

Ajax were notably beaten by our previous foes FC Rostov in a Champions League play-off last August. Daley Blind, Tim Fosu-Mensah and Zlatan Ibrahimovic would all relish this tie as former players of the club.

CELTA VIGO
Spain’s sole representatives and Group G runners-up drew 1-1 at KRC Genk to conclude a 4-3 aggregate success over the Belgian club, who are managed by Louis van Gaal's former assistant Albert Stuivenberg. It follows previous knockout victories over eastern European opponents, Shakhtar Donetsk and FK Krasnodar.

Celta are currently 10th in La Liga, which means the Europa League is widely viewed as their sole focus throughout the remainder of this season. That much was evident when a second-string team was fielded at the weekend against Granada , who are now managed by Tony Adams and have Andreas Pereira on loan.

OLYMPIQUE LYONNAIS
The Ligue 1 side beat Besiktas 7-6 on penalties following a 3-3 aggregate draw. Another side who dropped in from the Champions League, they showed their class with an impressive 11-2 aggregate win over AZ Alkmaar in the Round of 32 ahead of overcoming respected Serie A club Roma 5-4 on aggregate.

Much-loved former United defender Rafael da Silva is among their ranks and he could face the Reds for the first time since leaving Old Trafford, although Memphis Depay can not because he is cup-tied in Europe.
