Willock Named On The Bench
Matty Willock made the Manchester United bench for the first time during the 0-0 draw against West Brom at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Following solid work for the Reserves this season, the midfielder was introduced to the first-team picture by Jose Mourinho following an injury to Juan Mata and suspension for Ander Herrera.
Willock, who scored a last-minute winner in the Premier League 2 fixture at Anfield against Liverpool in January, turns 21 later this year and told Inside United in his first big interview: "When I was young, I always wanted to grow up and play for a big club. I didn’t think I was necessarily ever going to play for United so I am just happy to be here. If I keep working hard, hopefully I can push myself forward."
Though he didn't feature in the game, the youngster has been handed shirt number 42 and will have been delighted to savour the atmosphere.
Fellow Academy graduates Axel Tuanzebe and Tim Fosu-Mensah were also on the bench, with Jesse Lingard and Marcus Rashford starting again.
