Blind: Let's Push On To The Final

Daley Blind was keen to emphasise the need to build momentum in Manchester United’s last two Premier League games, with one eye on the Europa League final in Stockholm.

The Reds slipped to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Spurs on Sunday afternoon as Victor Wanyama and Harry Kane netted either side of the break. Wayne Rooney pulled one back with 20 minutes left, but the Reds were unable to find a late leveller.

“It was a hard game and we weren’t happy with the result,” Blind told MUTV as he reflected on the 90 minutes.

“We tried to come back into the game and we had a big chance [to make it] 2-2 with Rashford, but we couldn't take it which was a pity because we really wanted to get a result here.”

United don't have long to wait before returning to action with the Reds' next Premier League game on Wednesday night against Southampton at St. Mary’s.

“Today was a difficult game but we want to move on,” continued Blind, who will be given the night off after Mourinho confirmed he would be rested. “There are two games to play and we want to finish on a good feeling.

“Now we have to focus on the next game and it’s nice that the games are so quick together so we can focus on the next one. Everybody knows the importance of the games, and we will be ready as a team.”

After Southampton, the Reds host Crystal Palace at Old Trafford on the final day of the season next Sunday, before travelling to Stockholm for the Europa League final against Blind's former club Ajax on 24 May. And the Dutch international stressed the importance of building momentum going into that huge game.

“You want to go into the final with the best feeling you can,” he said. “So for the last two [league] games it’s important to play a good match and win, and get the best possible feeling [around the squad].”
