Carrick And Blind Encouraged By Away Form
Michael Carrick and Daley Blind insist Manchester United’s impressive away form will spur the Reds on against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, despite the battle to finish in the top four of the Premier League remaining a tough one.
While United’s form at Old Trafford has ultimately resulted in some costly draws, Jose Mourinho’s men boast 10 league wins on the road this term and have conceded fewer away goals (13 in 16 games) than any other side in the division.
The Reds are currently on a club-record run of 25 games unbeaten in English football’s top flight and both Carrick and Blind say spirits are high going into this afternoon's North London test.
“We’ve had some big battles with Arsenal over the years and some huge games,” recalled Carrick in an interview with MUTV.
“There is a big rivalry and it’s great because these are the games you want to play in. It’s two big clubs coming together and going at it. It’s something you look forward to. Hopefully we go there, play well and come back with a big result.
“Our away form has been very good and something that’s helped us during the season," he continued. "We’ve gone on an incredible run of games and our home form is the thing that has let us down surprisingly. But we go into Sunday with a lot of confidence and hopefully we can put in another good performance.”
Blind agreed, adding: “If you look at our results we have been doing well away from home. We have to make sure we finish the season as strongly as possible. At this stage it’s very important to get the points especially when you look at the table. Every game is a final.
“We have to make sure we get a good result and give everything we have to make that happen.”
