Lingard: New Boys Are Settling In Well
Jesse Lingard says new players at Manchester United will always be welcomed into the group, after praising the integration of latest additions Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof.
The duo have spent the last five days training with their new team-mates and preparing to take part in their first match in a red shirt, against LA Galaxy on Saturday evening (US time).
Lingard believes both players have been great additions so far and he believes Lukaku’s goals in particular will be key to the Reds this season.
“The new boys are settling in well. You can see from the squad we have it’s an easy group to settle into and you can see from training they’re enjoying themselves and doing well,” Jesse told MUTV.
“Any new signings are always welcomed into the group. They’ve settled in very quickly and they have adapted very quickly too.
“You saw what Romelu did last season for Everton,” he continued. “He scored a lot of goals in a lot of important games and hopefully he can bring that to the table for United."
Following a busy week of training, Lingard says the players are relishing the opening game of Tour 2017, presented by Aon, with the Reds keen to put some of the first week’s work into practice.
“Training has been tough and quite tactical so it will be good to try some things in the games now. It will be good to have different experiences with different teams and different formations which we’ve been working on,” added the attacker.
“It’s always vital to get minutes under your belt in these pre-season games. It’s an important time, it’s when you welcome the new signings and some of the youngsters are with us too and everyone is trying to impress and fight for their place which is good.”
