Mourinho Reveals Team News For Benfica

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has provided an update on his selection plans for Wednesday's Champions League tie at Benfica.

The boss admits he is short of options for the match at the Estadio da Luz and feels it could be simple for journalists to guess his line-up. Marcos Rojo travelled to Lisbon but is not available yet, while Luke Shaw came through another Reserves outing at the weekend and was also included on the trip.

Eric Bailly is still out with the injury he suffered while on World Cup qualifying duty with Ivory Coast but the positive news on fellow centre-back Rojo is he should be available again soon.

During an exclusive interview with MUTV, the manager said: "Rojo is not coming to play but he is coming with the team to train today with the group. Tomorrow, individually, but he's coming [back].

"I would say, probably in two weeks, Marcos is ready to play. There is no Bailly - he was injured in the national team."

Jose was asked if he could name his starting line-up to the press. "I will not tell you the team," he replied. "Firstly, because the players don't know yet but, secondly, we have so many injuries, I think that should be something that you can view with almost a guarantee of success because our options are so few that it is easy for you to guess the XI."

The Reds have won both games in Group A but face a team fighting to stay in the competition after a surprisingly poor start to the European campaign, losing 5-0 at Basel after a home reverse to CSKA Moscow.

"I think the [United] players were convinced in the meeting that we had in the morning, that the results are not the real indicator of the value of a team," he said. "Benfica have a good team. They will be tricky adversaries for us."
