Herrera: We're Hitting Form At The Right Time
Ander Herrera feels Manchester United are hitting form at just the right time as the players get set for the crucial festive period.
The Reds kicked off December with a superb 3-1 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium and face a busy spell of games in three competitions over the coming weeks.
Herrera came off the bench on Saturday as United were forced to hold out with 10 men following Paul Pogba’s dismissal. The Spaniard had great praise for the team display and highlighted a host of individual performances as well, which he believes bode well for the upcoming matches.
“We are going to find our best moment very soon," he told ManUtd.com after Sunday's win. "We are second and chasing to be top of the table.
"It was a fantastic result [at Arsenal] with some great performances. David [De Gea] was amazing, and we were clinical in the first half, with two chances in the first 15 minutes and two goals. Then of course Arsenal have a lot of quality and they were going to create chances, but for the two or three big ones they had, David was there so we’re very happy.
"Jesse [Lingard] is on fire now, Paul [Pogba] as well, it’s a pity he got a red card. Romelu [Lukaku] didn’t score but he helped us a lot. The centre-backs – Victor [Lindelof] is in fantastic form right now. So we are optimistic of course."
When asked how big a confidence boost the win at Arsenal was, ahead of next Sunday's mouth-watering Manchester derby, Herrera insisted: "I’m not thinking about Sunday, now it’s about CSKA [Moscow]. We are not qualified yet so we don’t think about City yet."
The Reds host CSKA Moscow on Tuesday at Old Trafford in the Champions League as the Reds look to seal qualification for the knock-out stages as group winners.
