United win Performance of the Week
Manchester United and Jose Mourinho have won the League Managers Association’s Performance of the Week award, for our scintillating derby victory.
The Reds came from 2-0 down to beat rivals Manchester City 3-2 last weekend, as a Paul Pogba brace and Chris Smalling volley completed a remarkable turnaround in a pulsating encounter at the Etihad Stadium.
The LMA’s five-man panel of chairman Howard Wilkinson, legendary former Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson, Joe Royle, Dave Bassett and Barry Fry decided United’s thrilling win was worthy of the accolade.
The experienced and distinguished panel has managed a combined total of more than 6,000 competitive matches in professional football.
To mark the award, Mourinho was presented with a celebratory bottle of champagne and the Performance of the Week trophy at the Aon Training Complex earlier.
Congratulations to Jose and the team!
