Chong wins Youth-Team Player of the Year
Tahith Chong has won the Jimmy Murphy Youth-Team Player of the Year award after a stellar campaign across Manchester United's younger age groups.
The Curacao-born winger recovered from a knee operation to make an instant impact at all youth levels, starting by scoring in the first start of his comeback against Manchester City's Under-18s in November.
Some dazzling displays followed, including some fine work in the UEFA Youth League, and he immediately took to life at Under-23s level like a duck to water.
In addition to his strike against on his Reserves debut against Tottenham, he has found the net in each of his four outings at Old Trafford.
"I think it's the dream of everyone in this room to play in the first team," he said. "But obviously we're still focused. We're still working hard to get there. That's the dream.
"I think we had the chance to celebrate [the title] but now the focus is on Chelsea this Saturday."
Chong beat off competition from fellow contenders Lee O'Connor, who was second, and third-placed James Garner to secure the trophy won last year by his friend Angel Gomes.
With the national final at Under-18 level to come against FA Youth Cup winners Chelsea, the 18-year-old will look to finish a wonderful season on a real high.
