Solskjaer's verdict on another win for United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was more than satisfied with his side's commanding performance against Inter Milan at the Singapore National Stadium.

The Reds secured a 1-0 victory in the opening game of our International Champions Cup campaign, courtesy of a fine second-half finish by 17-year-old substitute Mason Greenwood.

It was just reward for a hard-working display by Ole's men, who created virtually all of the noteworthy chances against the Serie A side in stifling hot and humid conditions.

Afterwards, the boss shared his thoughts with MUTV and during the post-match press conference...

WE SHOWED WHAT WE'RE ABOUT

“I think we got what we [the coaches] asked for. The conditions were tough but I thought it was excellent with some [real] pressing. In the first half, I thought we pressed really well and won the ball - it was just that final little bit was missing. Of course, in the second half, we got a goal. I was just thinking I like this, and think the boys were enjoying it, enjoying their football and what we’re trying to do. I think we showed what we’re about.”

GREENWOOD A GOALSCORER AGAIN

“Mason’s a natural finisher. He’s practising, of course, don’t get me wrong. He just knows where the ball is going to end up and land sometimes. You get players like this and he’s a natural goalscorer. He’s only 17 but, then again, why not enjoy it? I know he’s enjoying himself, enjoys football and he is going to enjoy every minute he gets and he’ll get a few, to be fair.”

EVERYBODY SHOULD BE HAPPY

“I thought Aaron [Wan-Bissaka] was growing and growing in confidence and is getting used to his team-mates. His performance was a good one, as were so many of his team-mates’ performances. Every one of the players today can look back on his performance and say they were happy.”

THE KIDS ARE ALRIGHT

“You see the confidence in the kids when they get minutes under their belts and play against very good players. They play with team-mates, first-team players they have maybe been looking up to and now, suddenly, they’re with them. They’ve great skill, all of them, and I know they’re ready to perform at this level.”

JESSE ONE OF THE BEST

“We've got players who like to press and be on the front foot. I don't know how many times Jesse [Lingard] won the ball but he's one of the best ones at that pressing football. Marcus [Rashford] is also very good at it and you could see Anthony [Martial] working hard and winning a few balls for us. It was very encouraging.”

WHAT AN ATMOSPHERE

“Today was Old Trafford, for sure. It felt like we were at home. The supporters were amazing in training yesterday and, today, the atmosphere was unbelievable. For the new boys Dan [James] and Aaron, plus the young boys, to see how many fans we have, it's our duty to try to play football the fans are happy with and it seemed like they were happy today.”

Next stop on Tour 2019 is China, with a game coming up against Tottenham on Thursday in Shanghai.
