Goalscorer Greenwood wins Man of the Match

Mason Greenwood has been voted Manchester United’s Man of the Match after we booked our place in the knockout phase of the UEFA Europa League with a 3-0 victory against Partizan Belgrade.

The 18-year-old scored the opening goal of the night, his second in the Europa League this season and his third in all competitions, and 35 per cent of you voted for him on our Official App.

Greenwood also assisted United’s second goal after pressing the Partizan left-back and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer praised the teenager’s calmness in front of goal.

“Mason showed great composure - the keeper was going the wrong way, so he just changed his mind. I’m very happy with that one.

“I’m very pleased with all the finishes, all three goals were high class.”

Former United defender Wes Brown also heaped praise on Greenwood in the MUTV studio after the final whistle.

“He’s one of the best [finishers] I've seen.

“You can see he’s naturally gifted and the more opportunities he gets, the more goals he’ll score.”

Fellow goalscorers Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford both tied second, getting 25 per cent of your votes.

Martial poked the ball under goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic for the second goal after a sublime dribble past three Partizan defenders.

Rashford put in an impressive performance coming in from the left-hand side, setting up Greenwood’s goal after a driving run before going on to fire in a powerful third after half-time.

Central midfielder Scott McTominay picked up 15 per cent of the vote and was impressive in the middle of the park before being substituted on 75 minutes after picking up a knock.
