Sir Alex Confirms Manucho Loan
Sir Alex has confirmed Angolan striker Manucho has joined Hull City on loan until the end of the season.
The 25-year-old, who signed for the Reds in December 2007, made his first-team debut against Middlesbrough in the Carling Cup earlier this season.
He’s since made three appearances from the bench for the senior side, while four starts in the Reserves this term have yielded one goal, but United are keen for the powerful striker to gain some regular experience at the top level.
“Manucho needs experience, and he needs games at a good level,” said the boss, who isn’t concerned that the Angolan’s departure leaves United short in the striker department.
“We’re confident in the progress of [Danny] Welbeck and the young boy [Federico] Macheda, who is doing exceptionally well in the youth team and Reserves. He’s a big lad now, he’s doing fantastically well. We also have the option of playing Ronaldo as a striker, too. So we’re well covered in that department.”
Manucho joins a Hull City side currently eighth in the league but struggling for form. After a strong start to the season, the Tigers have won just one of their last 12 league games.
This is the second loan spell in Manucho’s United career. Shortly after signing for the Reds, he joined Greek side Panathinaikos, where he scored four times.
