Wayne Is Insatiable

Wayne Rooney is simply unstoppable. The Reds striker took his tally for the season to 30 with goals in either half against AC Milan, ensuring United's safe passage to the quarter-finals.

Keeping the 24-year-old fit and firing undoubtedly holds the key to success in the Premier League and Champions League this season.

Rooney strikes fear into defenders across Europe as he continues to add fuel to his status as one of the game's deadliest front man. For a defender as formidable as Nemanja Vidic to be thankful enough he just has to face Rooney in training every day is quite some indication of his talents.

"I face Wayne in training every day so I know all about his ability!" said Vida. "He’s a good player and we just need to make sure he stays fit. Over the last few years he’s had one or two injuries and it’s been difficult for him to pick up the right form. But he’s doing so well for us at the moment."

Rooney knows full well the impact he has on games, but he's not one to go overboard about his talents.

"The first goal against Milan was vital and we set out to score early in the second half," he said. "That really killed the game off and in doing that it gave us great confidence and shattered Milan’s. I think that was the major turning point.

"I was delighted to score two goals. I was disappointed to miss the game against Wolves at the weekend but I’m pleased to play today and score."

United's attentions turn back to league duty and Fulham at Old Trafford on Saturday, before the Champions League draw on Friday 19 March and Liverpool's visit to M16 two days later.

But with a player like Rooney showing no signs of his incredible form abating, Vidic and co have no fears about the weeks ahead.

"I don’t think about who we could face next in Europe," says the Serbian. "Any game will be hard. But it doesn’t matter who we play, we’ll be playing to win."
