FA Cup 4th Round Draw: United To Meet Saints

United have been drawn away to Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round.

The Reds overcame Liverpool on Sunday to book their place in round four, while Southampton, who are currently third in League One, earned their spot with a 2-0 win over Blackpool at St. Mary's on Saturday.

Sir Alex gave his reaction to MUTV straight after the draw and said he is looking forward to the tie. "They had a great result yesterday against Blackpool.

"It's a nice stadium and good pitch and they're playing well. It's a tie we're looking forward to."

The last meeting between the two sides came in the FA Cup third round in January 2009. United ran out 3-0 winners at St. Mary's that day thanks to goals from Danny Welbeck, Nani and Darron Gibson.

The Reds have played Southampton 14 times in the Cup, winning eight, drawing five and losing just once. That one defeat, of course, came in the 1976 FA Cup final at Wembley.

This latest meeting will be played over the weekend of 29 and 30 January.
