DHL Sponsor Tour 2011

DHL, Manchester United’s official courier and logistics partner, has been announced as the title sponsor of the club’s summer tour of the United States.

The three-week July tour will take in Boston, Seattle, Chicago, New Jersey and Washington DC and gives the team a great opportunity to play in front of US fans.

Through the title sponsorship, DHL secured rights, including player and club legend appearances, tickets, hospitality, branding and advertising opportunities. DHL will also bring its unrivalled logistical expertise to ensure the team is delivered to each game in a DHL-branded bus.

Reds boss Sir Alex Ferguson said: “The team is really looking forward to going back to the US. The tour is great preparation for the season and the facilities over there are fantastic. I’m looking forward to some good football and the chance to meet our fans.”

The club's commercial director, Richard Arnold, added: “We already have a fantastic relationship with DHL and so we are delighted they have decided to specifically target this important market and create a unique marketing platform by becoming the title sponsor of our summer tour. Respected and trusted around the world, DHL shares our commitment to delivering excellence and I’m certain having them on board will help make this tour a great success.”

DHL Express US chief executive officer Ian Clough said: “Our sponsorship of the Manchester United USA Tour 2011 provides an outstanding opportunity to promote DHL’s brand in major US markets. We’re excited to team with Manchester United, a truly global sports brand whose international footprint mirrors our own."

The Reds kick off the pre-season tour in Boston with a game against New England Revolution on 13 July. Further matches follow against Seattle Sounders (Seattle, 20 July), Chicago Fire (Chicago, 23 July), MLS All-Stars (New Jersey, 27 July) and Barcelona (Washington DC, 30 July).
