Young Relishing United Switch

Ashley Young has admitted that the chance to join champions Manchester United was too good to turn down.

The 25-year-old was signed up to a five-year deal on Thursday for a reported £16million fee.

The midfielder revealed that the opportunity to challenge for the club's 20th league title and to ply his trade for a team like United was the realisation of a boyhood dream.

Speaking after putting pen to paper on the biggest move of his career, former Aston Villa star Young admitted he was excited at becoming part of the club's rich history.

"The opportunity to come and play for one of the biggest clubs in the world is one I couldn't turn down," he told MUTV.

"It's a chance to hopefully become part of their history by helping to win the 20th title.

"It's a prospect I always looked at from being a child; to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

"I've got that opportunity now so I've just got to take it with two hands."

Michael Owen, who extended his stay at Old Trafford by signing a new 12-month contract earlier this month, wrote on twitter: "Great to hear the Ashley Young deal has been finalised. Great addition to the squad."
