First thoughts: Two winnable games at the business end of the season.

Toughest test: On paper, Southampton shouldn't pose too many problems but both United's fixtures against the Saints last term were tricky. It took a last-minute Robin van Persie header at St Mary's to nick three points. and they were unlucky not to win at Old Trafford. Beware.

Subplot: These games may have consequences at both ends of the table. United could well need the points to retain the Barclays Premier League trophy, while Sunderland and Southampton finished in 17th and 14th spots respectively last season.
