Lingard Eyes Sweden Chance

Jesse Lingard wants to continue the promising form he has shown on Manchester United's pre-season tour in the game against AIK Fotboll in Stockholm on 6 August.

It may be a friendly but it's shaping up to be a big game for the Reds as it's the final chance for players to stake their claim for a place in David Moyes' side before the Community Shield at the end of the week.

The fixture against the high-flying Swedish outfit could also mark the return of the players who missed the first five tour games, including Wayne Rooney, Nemanja Vidic, Antonio Valencia and Javier Hernandez.

Lingard just hopes to be involved after netting four times on tour, including spectacular strikes against the A-League All Stars in Sydney and Kitchee FC in Hong Kong. "Hopefully I'll get the chance to play in Sweden and even get among the goals, to keep me in the manager's thoughts," the 20-year-old told ManUtd.com.

"AIK are in the middle of their season and will probably be a little fitter than us, as we'll still be in the final stages of building up to the new campaign. But it should be an entertaining game and we have a lot of support in Scandinavia, so the reception will be good too."
