Wigan Loan Powell

Manchester United and Wigan Athletic have agreed a season-long loan for Nick Powell.

The 19-year-old will link up with Latics manager Owen Coyle, who hopes to lead the club back into the top flight following last season’s relegation from the Barclays Premier League under Roberto Martinez.

Of course, Powell has been tipped for success since joining the Reds from Crewe Alexandra during the summer of 2012. Since then, he has made six first team appearances and even scored on his debut during a 4-1 win over Wigan at Old Trafford.

Speaking about the deal, Latics boss Coyle told Wigan's official website: “We’re delighted to welcome Nick to Wigan Athletic, and thank Manchester United for allowing a player whom they have invested a large sum of money in and has incredible talent, to join us for the season.

“We’re all excited to be offering him the opportunity to play football at a high level and for him to continue his development here at the club.”
