Kagawa Targets Three Points

Shinji Kagawa believes Manchester United must beat Arsenal today and consequently close the gap on the Barclays Premier League leaders.

The Gunners are eight points clear of the champions and, as a result, this weekend’s match at Old Trafford is being touted as one of great importance. Kagawa, who has recently caught the eye with a handful of fine performances, is determined to succeed against Arsene Wenger’s side.

However, speaking at the launch of United’s partnership with official timekeepers Bulova, the Japanese forward did acknowledge that victory won't come easily against Arsenal team that is high in confidence.

“It is imperative for us to get three points by winning the game against Arsenal at Old Trafford,” Shinji explained. “We need to achieve it in a calm and professional manner. To close the gap on them, we have to win the game. That's what we need.

“They have quality players with lots of technical skills. We need to work hard for 90 minutes if we are to win the game. A match like this is one that any player would look forward to. I need to prepare myself fully for it.”

An intelligent player with a defined style, Kagawa offers something different for United and having been at the club for over a year, the former Borussia Dortmund man feels his team-mates are beginning to fully utilise his talents.

“Every single day, and in every match, I put great effort in as if there is no second chance. For instance, in training, I try my best to let my team-mates know my style of play. Having worked together for more than a year, I believe my they can see it now. We keep working to make our link-up much better.”
