De Gea: Reds Put In The Work
David De Gea has spoken of his Manchester United team-mates’ collective desire to improve by putting in extra practice after training, singling out Javier Hernandez for special praise.
Three consecutive 2-1 defeats have made for a difficult week for the Reds but De Gea says all the players are working as hard as ever behind the scenes.
Antonio Valencia recently revealed De Gea had been helping him with extra training and the Spaniard confirmed this work ethic extends to the whole squad.
"We frequently stay after the training sessions to practice crossing and finishing, and do finishing drills," De Gea said.
"We do it especially when there are no matches in the following days and I think the extra training helps me and the other players to improve."
De Gea is good friends with striker Chicharito and the duo’s positions on the field mean they naturally benefit from working together at the Aon Training Complex.
"We help each other – he tries to make it difficult for me and I try to make it difficult for him," De Gea added. "We always do our best and he's a player who gives his all in training.
"He is one of the most professional players I have known over the course of my career. He is truly a great player and a good friend."
