Fletch, Carrick Ready For Action

Darren Fletcher & Michael Carrick have given their stamps of approval for the new Manchester United home kit, which both men are eager to wear throughout the much-anticipated 2014/15 season.

The new strip was officially unveiled on Monday (7 July) and will be available to buy in stores and via United Direct from 16 July. It will be worn for the first time during this month’s pre-season tour match with LA Galaxy on 23 July.

“I really like it,” explains Fletch, who is braced for his 13th season with United. “I think it’s slim-fitting, plus I like the colour and the style of it. I think the players are certainly pleased and I think the fans will be as well.

“It is of course always an honour to pull on the shirt when it’s United. First and foremost you want to make sure it looks good and it’s comfortable to play in, and it’s both of those things. I really like it and I’m looking forward to hopefully wearing it this season.”

As Carrick explains, he is also a big fan of the new design and what it represents: “It’s nice and fits really well actually. It’s quite plain and quite simple, but I like it. We’ve had some nice strips over the years - although I’ve also worn some bad ones too!

“When you first see it you get excited because you know you’ve got to wear it all year. It’s nice to know that the boys are going to look good and feel good, which is the most important thing.

Asked if the new slim fit will stop opponents from grabbing the shirt, Carrick joked: “It is quite slim; some of the lads are breathing in! It seems to be the way things are going now, but personally I find the slim-fitted shirts very comfortable so I can’t complain.”
