Herrera Enjoying Life As A Red

Ander Herrera says he is thoroughly enjoying life as a Manchester United player and can’t wait to experience his first pre-season tour with the Reds.

The midfielder joined up with his new team-mates earlier this month and says training has been both productive and enjoyable under Louis van Gaal’s new regime.

Herrera and his new team-mates will fly out to the United States on Friday for Tour 2014, presented by Aon, and the Spaniard can’t wait.

“It will be a new experience for me because it will be my first time outside Europe,” he told MUTV HD. “All the people have told me there is a lot of United fans in America and I can't wait to play in front of them.

“I am very happy and really enjoying being at the club and in the city. The first couple of weeks here have been great. Training has been good, similar to at [Athletic] Bilbao in that we train a lot with the ball. The coaches want us to have the ball and keep possession which is great for the players.”

Herrera is an old friend of United stars Juan Mata and David De Gea who have only had great things to say about the club.

“Juan and David told me United is a big club, maybe the biggest in the world and they said there is a great spirit here. I have [already] seen that," added Herrera. "I am happy and just want to start playing now.”

On their return from the United States, the Reds will take on Valencia CF as part of REUNITED 14 on 12 August and Herrera is relishing his first run-out at the Theatre of Dreams as a Red having enjoyed a good experience here with Athletic Bilbao back in March 2012.

“I am very excited to play at Old Trafford. I played one time here for Bilbao and I have good memories of this game – you could say I have a 100 per cent record here!” he joked.

“Valencia is a big club and a great team, I know them well. They’re a team that likes to keep possession and play good football. I think it will be a great game because you have two teams that want the ball, want to score goals and want to win.

“It’s a dream to be here playing for United and it will be a dream to play for the team at Old Trafford. My first game will be against a Spanish club which is special and I'm sure it will be a special day. I can't wait.”
