Reds Await League Cup Draw

Manchester United’s opponents in the second round of the Capital One Cup will be revealed when the draw takes place at approximately 21:45 BST tonight (Tuesday).

By virtue of finishing outside the European places in the Barclays Premier League last season, the Reds are involved at this stage for the first time since 1995, when Sir Alex Ferguson’s men were shocked by York City.

United are one of 25 seeded teams and are joined in the draw by the other 12 Premier League sides who aren’t in European competition this term, the two sides relegated from the top flight (Fulham and Norwich City) and the 35 winners from round one.

Unseeded clubs will be subject to a pre-draw to determine a home or away match with United, number 11 in the pot, obviously facing one of these clubs.

The draw is live on Sky Sports 1 in the UK and will take place following the first-round clash between Coventry City and Cardiff City.

The second-round ties will be held during the week beginning 25 August.
