Legends Are Back: United Vs Bayern
A team of Manchester United legends will be back at Old Trafford next June to take on Bayern Munich's All Stars and help raise vital funds for the United Foundation.
Bryan Robson will manage the Reds team, which will include a host of club favourites, while Bayern will also be bringing along a very strong side of former stars for the match on Sunday 14 June 2015. The event includes live entertainment from top music acts and a funfair and promises to be a fantastic day out for the whole family.
The match follows on from a highly memorable meeting between United and Real Madrid legends in the summer of 2013 which raised £1million for the Foundation, and earlier this year a group of Reds veterans travelled to Munich for the first leg against their German counterparts. Paul Scholes and Andy Cole were both on the scoresheet as the teams drew 3-3 so there is plenty to play for in the return match next June at Old Trafford.
Treble winner Dwight Yorke featured in August's friendly in Germany and said it was an enjoyable occasion for everyone involved.
"Charity is very important and even though the two clubs have rivalry in some ways it’s good to come together for a special occasion like this to raise awareness and funds, and give opportunities to underprivileged kids," he explained. "It’s all for a good cause and that’s why we all come out of retirement, put our boots on and play in these games.”
