Falcao Enjoying Life At United
Life is good for Radamel Falcao at Manchester United. The superstar striker, signed on loan from Monaco on deadline day last summer, has had a busy time of things recently but seems at home in the no.9 shirt.
The Colombian has started all of United's last five games and scored point-saving equalisers at both Aston Villa and Stoke City. He has also had his first taste of the FA Cup, in unfamiliar surroundings at Yeovil Town, and appears to be reaching peak fitness. With United on an 11-match unbeaten run and Falcao making his mark, it is little wonder he is feeling content.
"I'm good," he told ManUtd.com. "My family are comfortable. We're enjoying life in Manchester and here at the club. The people have been great with me, with my family. We're happy and very grateful."
If any evidence of the respect he engenders among his team-mates was required, our video of the players lifting him back into full training in November provided it in abundance. Everybody appreciates the value of having another world-class attacking talent in the squad and his goals should continue to prove vital as the campaign wears on.
"Right from the start, they [my colleagues] welcomed me," he revealed. "They supported me and helped me with whatever I needed. They are a really humble group of players, really decent and, well, I was taken aback by how kind they've been."
Certainly, the exuberant goal celebrations show how much representing United means to the 28-year-old and Old Trafford awaits his next strike to add to his opening effort against Everton back in October, and fans can expect his customary expression of joy whenever he finds the net. "I place a lot of value in the hard work that I have to put in for each goal and I know just how much effort it requires, so that's why I celebrate like that," he explained. "For me, each goal means a lot so I put a lot of passion into my celebrations."
His initial thoughts on the Barclays Premier League are also apparent. After appearing in France, Spain and Portugal's top flight, he is well placed to judge the merits of the domestic divisions and is handling the rigours of leading the line for the Reds. "It's more attractive than the French league," he maintained. "Defenders are stronger and more aggressive. In a good way, you know? It's intense and, well, overall just more physical."
Finally, Falcao was asked if he had a message for the United fans at the start of a year that hopefully cements his status as a real crowd favourite. "First of all, I'd say thank you so much for the way the fans have treated me. Then I'd want to wish them a happy 2015 and I hope that we can bring them some happiness."
Nothing would make fans more content than seeing the striker fire the club to success and as he continues to bed into the side there is every chance he will become a central figure in the quest for league points and FA Cup glory.
