Fletcher Bids Farewell And Joins West Brom
Darren Fletcher has ended his long-standing association with Manchester United after joining West Bromwich Albion on a free transfer in a late deal on transfer deadline day.
The Scottish midfielder signed trainee forms with the Reds in 2000, making his debut three years later as a teenager in United's Champions League meeting with FC Basel at Old Trafford.
The 31-year-old became an integral part of the Reds' squad during 12 years in the team, playing 342 games for the club and scoring 24 goals. His commitment to the United cause was typified by his successful battle with ulcerative colitis later in his Reds career.
Fletcher proved to be a hugely popular player and an influential member of the dressing room, culminating in being made a vice-captain by Louis van Gaal alongside Michael Carrick this season in support of club skipper Wayne Rooney.
Darren leaves Old Trafford with everyone's very best wishes for a successful future.
