Pereira Tipped For Success At United

Andreas Pereira has all of the qualities needed to become a first-team player at Manchester United throughout the 2015/16 season, according to his club team-mates Marouane Fellaini and Adnan Januzaj.

The 19-year-old capped a progressive campaign by representing Brazil at the Under-20s World Cup in New Zealand, where he scored a wonder goal in Saturday's final as his compatriots suffered a 2-1 extra-time defeat to Serbia.

Pereira made his senior United debut in 2014/15 and signed a new long-term contract at the club, before winning the Barclays Under-21s Premier League title in May. He was then voted the club's U21s Player of the Year award.

Fellaini has worked closely with Pereira at the Aon Training Complex during his own two seasons with United and the towering midfielder is confident his young team-mate has what it takes to make the grade, although Marouane admits Andreas must work hard to grasp his opportunities.

“Andreas is a big talent,” Fellaini told United Review at the end of the domestic season. “I think the club did everything to sign him up to a contract because a lot of teams wanted him. He has to continue like that, to work hard and to keep going and try to win his place.”

Pereira could be advised to follow the example of Januzaj, who won the U21s Player of the Year award in 2013 before breaking into the first-team and signing his own long-term contract. He has since tallied 56 appearances in just two seasons with the senior team, and has some advice for his colleague.

“It is always good to win your own prize and your own trophy,” Adnan told us in May. “He just has to work hard and when the chance comes to him, he should take it. Andreas is a very good player, he has a lot of good qualities and he can be a great player for United.”
