Young & Fellaini: Why The Tour Is Important
Manchester United duo Ashley Young and Marouane Fellaini are both looking ahead to Tour 2015, presented by Aon, with excitement, as the pair aim to boost their fitness while taking the opportunity to meet some Stateside Reds.
Speaking to ManUtd.com, the players expressed their delight at having the chance to mingle with US-based United supporters once again, with Young in particular marvelling at the fanaticism from across the world.
"It's not until you go on tour that you really realise how big the club is around the world," Ashley told us. “There are fans outside the hotels 24/7, at training and the stadiums are filled to the rafters. When you're away on tour you really see the size of the fanbase. The fans are fantastic – they always have been with us."
"I think it will be a good trip," added Fellaini, who will be experiencing his first taste of life on tour with United, having missed last year's trip because of World Cup commitments. "Meeting the fans is always something we enjoy and it's amazing to see how many support the team. It is good for us."
The Belgium international also spoke of the importance the tour has in ensuring all the players are at peak fitness come the start of the 2015/16 campaign.
"I’m looking forward to it, but it’s also really hard!" the midfielder continued. "It’s important to get your fitness through playing games and trying to avoid picking up injuries.
"The most important thing is the fitness and getting the feeling for the games again."
