Ander: On The Right Road

Manchester United star Ander Herrera believes the Reds can take great confidence from the 4-0 win over Club Brugge (7-1 on aggregate) and continue to progress, both domestically and on the continent.

Having found goals hard to come by on home shores, the Reds tore into the Belgian side, bagging a quartet of fine finishes thanks to a clinical Wayne Rooney hat-trick and an assured finish from Herrera. It was a victory that - the Spaniard feels - will have a positive effect on Louis van Gaal’s men.

“I think we are on the right road,” Herrera told MUTV. “We are not giving too many chances away and are posing a threat in front of the goal of the opponent. This is the way we have to be. We have to improve, step by step, and now we look forward.”

The Reds' no. 21 was also keen to dish out the plaudits to captain Rooney following his defining intervention on Wednesday, with Herrera having little doubt the skipper will play a key role this season.

“Wayne is our captain, our leader, and we are happy for him,” the midfielder enthused. “When he scores, things are always easier but he is also a team player. He is always helping the team and not thinking only about himself.”
